The white beads on this beautiful necklace were found on Sumba island in Nusa Tengarra, eastern Indonesia. Sumba has one of the worlds last megalithic cultures, and only came out of head hunting in the 1970s. these beads were once important family heirlooms ,but have been in the ground for a very long time. some would be thousands of years old,although white,once many would have been coloured but they have oxidised in the ground . If only these beads could tell tales and show pictures of the lives they have lived. a fascinating necklace . 54 cm long, 6mm to 14mm beads, 52 grams
